Workplace-Based Vocational Education (7+1)
Integrate Your Education with the Business World!
Real-World Experience through the 7+1 Model
As the Department of Computer Engineering at Balıkesir University, we emphasize that our students gain sectoral experience before graduation and reinforce their theoretical knowledge in real working environments. Our “Workplace-Based Vocational Education (7+1)” program is an innovative hands-on education model designed for this purpose.
With this model, students spend one semester of their 8-semester undergraduate education working full-time in a company, actively participating as an employee. This is more than just an internship—it is an integral part of the curriculum that bridges academic learning and professional life.
What is Workplace-Based Vocational Education (7+1)?
The 7+1 Education Model allows undergraduate students to take theoretical and practical courses for seven semesters at the university and spend one semester entirely in a company in the industrial or service sector. During this period, students take the “Workplace-Based Vocational Education” course included in the curriculum and achieve its learning outcomes directly at the workplace.
-
Real Work Experience
Students take on real tasks and responsibilities within a company throughout the semester, participating directly in work processes.
-
Application of Theoretical Knowledge
They apply the engineering theories, problem-solving approaches, and optimization techniques they learn in courses to real-world scenarios.
-
Career-Oriented Development
Before graduation, students gain experience in workplace dynamics, institutional culture, teamwork, and professional communication, giving them a strong career start.
-
Employment Advantage
Students who successfully complete the program gain a significant experience advantage in their post-graduation job search and often receive employment offers from the companies where they trained.
